Valentine's Wishlist

Valentine's is definitely a love/hate holiday but I'm thankful that this year I am on the side of love! There is certainly a theme running throughout the wishlist but I just found so many cute things that I couldn't help but share!  Enjoy!

1. Calvin Klein Valentine's Rose Crop Top and Knickers-£50
I saw these on Urban Outfitters and I fell in love! The set is so adorable and not too in your face so they can be worn all year round.

2. Eyelash Eye Mask-£7.50
Another super cute present and fairly cheap as well. The eyelash design adds a hint of elegance, it's also a practical present for a girl who loves to travel.

3. Olympus Pen E-PL5
I've heard amazing things about this camera and the reviews certainly don't disappoint. It's also small and a really cute champagne colour which adds a bit of sophistication.

4. Kate Spade Notebook-£20
Recently I've developed an obsession with notebooks (especially from TK Maxx and Homesense because they're so cheap), but this Kate Spade notebook is definitely a beautiful, luxury present. 

5. FRENDS Layla Rose Gold Headphones-£139.99
I must admit that these headphone have been on my wishlist for years but I just can't bring myself to pay the price for them... look how cute though!!

6. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector-£32
To be fair, all of the shimmering skin perfectors are flawless but I particularly love Champagne Gold because it is such a lovely colour and I thin it will go well with my fair skin tone.

7. Adidas Originals 80's Metal Toe Trainer-£90
I really don't know where I should stand with these trainers. I obviously love them because of the rose gold detailing but I'm not too fond of the shape of the actual trainer. That being said, they are still lovely and would make an amazing gift. 

8. ASOS Angelika Caged Longline Underwire Bra-£20
I'm absolutely in love with this bra, not only is it gorgeous but it also had underwire so you still have support. The harness and lace detailing really makes it look more expensive than it is as well.

9. Thomas Sabo Love Bridge Bracelet-£159
Rose Gold... Again! Yes I know but this is the perfect Valentine's gift! Not only is it so pretty I could scream but it can also be engraved so you can write a sweet message for your partner, insuring it's cherished for years to come.

10. S'well water bottle-£30
I know £30 for a water bottle is a tad overpriced but it was just so damn cute that I had to include it!

11. Accessorize Faux Fur Pom Pom Bag Charm-£7
I own so many of these as it is that I probably don't need any more but it's a really cheap and cheerful gift idea which shows someone you care. Also you have got to be mad to hate a fluffy key chain!

12. Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in 'Redrum'-£14
When anyone thinks about Valentine's Day the colour red is probably one of the first things they think of, so a staple red lipstick is key to completing any look. This liquid lipstick won't budge either so you can eat as much as you like without the dreaded red ring of death forming around your lips!

13. Boohoo Emily Maxi Length Sheer Robe-£14
This robe just gives me life! Not only is it gorgeous and luxury looking but it's also only £14! Complete bargain considering they sell similar ones in Victoria Secret for £50+.

Review | Zoeva Complete Eye Set

After what seems like forever coveting Zoeva brushes I finally asked for a set for Christmas. Knowing full well that I had too many face brushes I opted for the Complete Eye Set. Firstly it came beautifully wrapped up in tissue paper, because of this my mum didn't even bother wrapping it up and just popped it in my stocking. When I opened it I didn't expect to find both a dust bag AND a cute little makeup bag considering the price of it, it definitely exceeded expectations. All the brushes also had little guards over the bristles to protect them. The set contains 12 luxurious brushes, all specifically designed for a designated job. I believe it is a perfect set for beginners as it contains all the brushes you need to create multiple eye looks, as well as a concealer and eyebrow brush which help to perfect a look.  

226 Smudger

This brush is a first for me as I've never even had one similar and I have to say it makes applying eyeshadow under your eye so much easier! Before it I was using much bigger brushes which were either applying far too much product or making the line far too thick so it looked like I had a black eye. 

224 Luxe Defined Crease

Definitely one of my favourites, it blends out shadow in the crease well and makes it look flawless. Even if you apply way too much product this brush helps to blend it away. 

322 Brow Line

I have many brow brushes and each one I use with a specific product, this one is now officially my DipBrow brush as it is dense and long, making it easier to draw in lines. 

230 Luxe Pencil

This brush helps to apply shadow to a specific area -whether that's the crease or the outer V- and gives you the freedom to choose how much product you want to apply. 












228 Crease

If you want an unkept smoky eye then this is the brush for you, it blends out shadow well but not into a specific area like the Luxe Defined Crease. It also allows you to blend the inner and outer colours together so it doesn't look too harsh. 












142 Concealer Buffer

Another one of my favourites, as I have blemish prone skin I like to use a heavy duty concealer like Mac Studio Finish and a dense brush to cover my spots as well as I can. 

231 Luxe Petit Crease

Another blending brush, but it can also be used to apply product to the crease. Always useful to have multiple blending brushes and the white bristles show if any product is left over on it.













317 Wing Liner

I've never been good at applying wing liner, my eyes lids are hooded so it makes it 10 times harder to create a nice flick. This brush is good for getting a precise line across the lash line but I still find it hard to do a flick with it. 

237 Detail Shader

I haven't really used this brush yet as I haven't had the opportunity to but the website says it is:

-Small and dense eyeshadow brush with natural hair
-Perfect for detailed work and accentuating the eyes
-Makeup with love of detail

234 Luxe Smoky Shader

As the bristles are nice and dense this brush is perfect for applying shadow to the inner corner and brow-bone. Spraying it with some Fix+ also helps the shadow to stick to the bristles easier. 

227 Luxe Soft Definer

Very similar to the Mac 217 blending brush but at a fraction of the price. This brush blends out shadow in the crease and outer V and allows you to build up how dramatic you want your eye look to be. 












315 Fine Liner

Another brush that I haven't got any similar to. The bent end makes it easier to see where you're applying the liner and the the short and dense bristles help to apply a thin  line. It took a while to perfect the wing using this brush but I've got to say that now it's very easy. 

Overall I absolutely love this set and I couldn't see myself doing my eye makeup without it ever again, all the brushes make the job so much easier.

Review | Real Techniques Bold Metals 301 Flat Contour Brush

As soon as I saw the Bold Metals collection featured on Real Technique's Instagram I knew I had to have them, more specifically the Flat Contour Brush but at £22 it's not the cheapest brush on the market. The Rose Gold handle and unusual design definitely attracted it to me at first as it's so aesthetically pleasing but the brush design was definitely what sealed the deal. Before the release of this brush I had only ever seen one other contour brush similar from Zoeva but that one seemed to be more square in comparison. The Real Techniques one has rounded edges, almost like a much denser and smaller version of the Expert Face Brush. Because of this I think it could also be used with a light to medium coverage foundation like Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua to help build the coverage up. Design wise the handle is pointed to avoid it rolling off a flat surface and weighted to help create a precise contour. Also the synthetic hairs are even softer than the other collections available from Real Techniques, which is saying something! 

I used my 301 with my Nars Laguna Bronzer from my Virtual Domination Palette as I find powders are easier to apply and look more natural. I found that whilst applying I was able to get a more defined contour than with my contour brush from the Core Collection as the 301 is much denser. It also perfectly fit into the hollows of my cheekbones, helping me map out where I needed to contour. There was also no need to tap off excess product as the brush picks up exactly the right amount. 

Overall I think the brush was an excellent purchase and I am sure I will get lots of use out of it. Also it will look stunning sitting among my other brushes on my dressing table.

July Favourites!

It's August already, how crazy?! Not long until I start college now, scary! Nonetheless another month gone by gives us another chance to show off the products we've been loving over the course of the month. I haven't really done much shopping this month mainly because it's been so hot but these are a few things I've been loving. 

The first product (or products) I've been loving is the L'oreal Skin Perfection range. I bought the 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution first from Sainsbury's because I heard it was a good Bioderma dupe. I didn't want to be splashing out ten to twenty pounds for a makeup remover so I thought I would give this a go and I wasn't at all disappointed! It was around £4 for the bottle and it removes makeup like a dream! Just apply a small amount onto a cotton wool pad and swipe over your face and your makeup is gone. It's brilliant! After my triumph with the makeup remover I thought I'd try the Velvety-Soft Toner and quite frankly it does what it says on the bottle. When applied to the face it feels soft and luxurious and just glides on. Also the smell is to die for! Lastly from the Skin Perfection range I got the Cleansing and Perfecting Milk. I apply this just before I go to bed with my fingers and it makes my skin so much more hydrated and soft. 

The second product I've been loving is Essie's 'Muchi, Muchi'. I purchased it along with two more Essie nail polishes in a set from Tk Maxx for £10 which is a really good deal considering they retail for around £8 in Boots and Superdrug. The colour is a beautiful pastel pink on the nail and it's an amazing dupe for Topshop's 'Milkshake'. I found that it did need a few coats to stop looking so opaque though and it didn't dry as quickly as I would like but I've had it on for 4 days now and it hasn't chipped at all. 

The third product I've been loving is Orlando Pita's Argan Oil. I bought this along with a Shampoo and Conditioner in a set from Costco for £15. I wasn't really that impressed with the Shampoo and Conditioner as they felt cheap but the Argan Oil really has done wonders for my hair. I apply a tiny amount onto damp hair and it makes it so much easier to dry. It also says on the bottle it helps reduce dry time but I haven't really found that to be true, thankfully my hair is only short anyway so it takes next to no time to dry my hair. 

Lastly I have absolutely been loving my Real Techniques Starter Set. I just find Real Techniques brushes to be so soft and effortless to use. Recently I've been applying more eyeshadow just as a way to make my eyes look brighter and prettier and that's why I purchased this set. I bought it from Amazon whilst it had money off so it was only around £17 instead of £20. The set includes a base shadow brush which is perfect for applying colour to the lid, a deluxe crease brush which is good for applying colour to the crease and outer corner, an accent brush which I haven't really used yet and a brow brush which fills in your brows flawlessly. My favourite of them all is definitely the brow brush because it is nice and thick and applies the perfect amount of shadow to the eyebrows.

So I know my M.A.C collection may be a tad smaller than other peoples but I'm working on it! I've only really started collecting high-end makeup in the past year due to a growing interest. I hope that my collection will to continue to grow and grow in the near future.

Prom

So as many of you may or may not know it has been Prom season over the last couple of weeks. I officially left high school around a month ago but my Prom wasn't until last Friday, the 28th June 2013. I thought that a blogpost would be a good thing to look back on and also an opportunity to show anyone that will look my dress, shoes and bag (which I am all absolutely in love with!) 

I had my dress made by a lovely dressmaker in Liverpool called Tanya Maxwell. She owns her own shop in the city centre and is extremely talented. My shoes and bag are from Kurt Geiger and I just fell in love with them as soon as I saw them! They have crystals and spikes all over the wedges and front of the bag which makes them elegant yet edgy. 

On the day of prom I got my hair and nails done professionally but I did my own makeup. I started off using my Urban Decay pore perfecting face primer and then applied my MAC studio fix foundation and concealer to stop any redness and conceal my spots. I then applied my Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion to keep my eyeshadow on through the night. I mixed my two MAC pigments 'Melon' and 'Copper Sparkle' to create the perfect yellow based gold to match my prom dress. I applied that with a dense brush to the outer part of my eyelids and underneath. I then used 'Blackout' in the Naked 2 palette which is a very dark, matte black and applied that to the outer corner and created a 'winged effect'. I blended the black in with the gold and applied the black a couple more times to make it darker. I also applied it underneath my eyes and blended it with the gold. Finally I applied 'Half Baked' from the Naked 2 palette on top of the gold to make it even more yellow based. To finish I contoured and highlighted my face and applied 'Creme Cup' by MAC to create my Prom look.
